Hintergrund / Background

Die Partitur des "Le trouvère" hat zahlreiche Änderungen erfahren. Verdi hat für die französische Oper fünf Stücke der Partitur neu instrumentiert.
1) Das Duett im Akt II zwischen Azucena und Manrique
2) Das gesamte Finale vom Akt II
3) Die große Szene der Azucena mit Chor im ersten Bild sowie den Soldatenchor im Akt II
4) Eine Ballettmusik sowie eine neue Melodie wurde 1857 speziell für *Mme Borghi-Mamo geschrieben im Akt III
5) Ein neues Finale im Akt IV

Akt IV:
Im neuen Finale folgt Léonores Tod eine Wiederaufnahme des Acapella-Chors aus dem "Miserere!...". Dies führt zu einem kurzen Duett auf Distanz zwischen Manrique und Azucena. Dieses Duett folgt musikalisch Themen, die zuvor von Léonore und Manrique zu hören waren. Auf dem Höhepunkt eines Orchestercrescendos schleppt der Comte de Luna unter dem Wirbel einer Militärtrommel Azucena buchstäblich zum Anblick der Hinrichtung von Manrique, dem Troubadour.

 

In fact, what Franco Abbiati called a “lightly reinforced finale” proves in performance to be quite startling. The finale of Le Trouvère was used in the 1993 Italian language production of Il Trovatore given in Belfast by Opera Northern Ireland. There, the expanded prison scene showed that Azucena actually had time to reveal Manrico’s true identity to De Luna. She might have saved him, but she did not. It is a harrowing finale.
